Choir Rehearsal Tracks by Voice

A choir rehearsal track is the file a singer opens between rehearsals: their own voice in front, the other parts quiet underneath. Directors look for it as choir rehearsal tracks, SATB practice tracks, part-dominant rehearsal tracks, learning tracks for choir, or rehearsal tracks for each voice part. The job is the same. Soprano, alto, tenor and bass each need a track that makes their line obvious, and the director needs a way to send it without recording four takes at the piano.

CantuStudio builds that kit after a reviewable SATB draft. Start from a melody, a MusicXML or MIDI file, a MuseScore file, a PDF or photo, audio, a hymn from the catalog, or a chord chart with the tune. Hear the four parts, mark what this choir cannot sing, and only then share. Each singer opens their own part in the browser from a link you paste on WhatsApp. Playback is synthesized MIDI in the browser. It is not a recording of singers, and it is not a finished performance.

What a rehearsal kit per voice part is

The problem on rehearsal night is rarely that nobody knows the tune. The melody is already in the room. Soprano, alto, tenor and bass have not heard their own line enough times to arrive together. A rehearsal kit per voice part covers the days between one rehearsal and the next. Each singer gets a track of their voice, with that part in front and the other voices soft in the background. It is study material: the line the section sings, the harmony around it, and a way to open it on a phone without installing an app.

People searching for choir rehearsal tracks are not asking for a generator slogan. They want a package the director can send to the group: four SATB practice tracks, the score, and a link that already points at the part. CantuStudio assembles that kit after the SATB draft. Paste it in the choir WhatsApp. Each singer opens their own part in the browser. The useful answer is the distribution flow. It is not a promise that the first tutti is already in tune.

Part-dominant tracks for soprano, alto, tenor and bass

The kit treats each section as a different listener. The soprano track puts the top line in front. The alto track isolates the inner line that disappears in the tutti. The tenor track gives the middle the section needs to practice alone. The bass track shows the harmonic floor so the singer is not guessing the root in the middle of rehearsal. On every track the other voices stay audible, only quieter, so nobody studies the line in a vacuum. That is what part-dominant means here: one voice loud, the rest as backing. The export control describes the same file as one voice to practice while the other voices keep playing underneath.

There is also a solo track, only that voice, when the exercise is pitch and interval without the other parts underneath. In the export panel, Vocal exercise — MIDI per voice makes that isolated soprano, alto, tenor or bass file. Use the part-dominant track to learn how the line fits. Use the solo when the section still misses the same entrance. The public link can open on the right part already: ?voz=soprano, ?voz=alto, ?voz=tenor or ?voz=bass. The alto does not land on the soprano track by mistake in the WhatsApp group. None of these learning tracks decides what the choir sings in the service. They only let each section arrive having heard its own part.

From a melody, MusicXML, MIDI or chords to a draft

The kit starts as a draft, not as a purchased recording. Import a melody as MusicXML, MIDI, a MuseScore .mscz file, a PDF, a photo or audio. You can also start from a hymn in the catalog, or paste a chord chart and add the melody. In seconds you have a four-voice SATB draft you can listen to. The draft is what you accept or reject. The rehearsal tracks are generated from the draft you kept, not from a separate recording session.

Listen before anyone else does. Check range, entrances and text against the choir you actually have. If the tenor line sits too high for this section, the kit will only teach the wrong line more efficiently. Mark it and change it before you share. Changing pitches in the note editor is a Pro feature, grouped with PDF and MusicXML download. A free account can still generate inside the monthly limit and listen before it spends rehearsal time. Turn on the per-voice kit only after you trust the draft.

In the export panel, choose the rehearsal kit per voice. CantuStudio writes a MIDI file for each voice: that voice loud, the others soft. Share kit then gives a public link at /share/<id>. Send one link and let each person pick a part, or send four links that already include ?voz=. There is no extra app to install. The group is not asked to log in. You are not recording four takes at the piano.

Share one link per voice part on WhatsApp

The choir WhatsApp group is already the channel. The kit uses that channel instead of inventing another. Generate the SATB draft from the melody, the file or the catalog. Review what your section can actually sing. Then use Share kit. Paste the link in the group. Each singer taps it on the phone, lands on their part, and hears the track in the browser. The same URL accepts ?voz=soprano, ?voz=alto, ?voz=tenor or ?voz=bass, so you can paste four lines, one per section chat, or one line in the full group with the voice named.

Some directors paste the bass link in the low-voice chat and the soprano link in the high-voice chat. Others send everything in the main group. Both work because the material is the same: the chosen voice in front, the others soft, and the score for anyone who wants paper. The link is the shortcut. It is not the only way to carry the material. If the choir already prints a folder, the PDF is still the page in that folder. If they already open MIDI in another player, the per-voice file still exports.

There is no standing public sample that pretends to be your choir's kit. The honest trial is to generate your own draft and share it after you have heard it. If the draft has not passed your ear, do not paste it in the group. The kit distributes what you already accepted as rehearsal material. It does not skip the director's review before the section studies at home.

What the singer hears in the browser

The singer does not download a zip of four files and does not need notation software on the phone. They open the link, land on the kit, and hear their part. Their voice is in front. The others stay in the background to mark the entrance, the cutoff and the harmony. If they want the bare line, they use the solo MIDI from Vocal exercise — MIDI per voice. If they want the page, they open the PDF of the full choral score from the same kit when the plan includes that download. Playback stays in the browser.

What they hear is synthesized MIDI, one voice forward or with the others softened. It is not a sung recording, not a session singer, and not a generated vocal. Per-voice playback is the practice file: the written line, the harmony under it, and a way to reopen it on the phone they already carry. On Monday the alto still misses the same leap. Instead of waiting for the next rehearsal, they reopen the link and hear their own voice. The tenor who missed the entrance does the same on the way there. That does not mean the section arrives finished. It means home practice no longer depends on someone playing the line at the piano.

The phone is the device the singer already has, which is why the kit does not ask anyone to install an app to rehearse. A free account can use the WhatsApp kit after the arrangement is saved. PDF and MusicXML downloads stay on Pro. A free account can download up to 2 MIDI files a month. Hear the line yourself before you send a practice file of it.

Practice tracks you generate and tracks sold per song

Directors already know the other category: recorded choir rehearsal tracks, learning tracks and part-dominant practice tracks sold one song at a time. You pick a title, you wait, and you receive a performance of that piece with one part forward. The wait is often days or weeks. The voicing is whatever was recorded. The key and the ranges are the ones on that recording. Quantity is one title at a time. The musical character of that category is a human performance of the song.

CantuStudio writes a four-part draft from your melody and turns that draft into practice tracks in the key, range and voicing of your choir. On Pro, generations and rehearsal kits are not capped at one title. The result is an AI draft that still needs the director, not a human performance. Current CantuStudio limits are on the English pricing page. Use a recorded track when you want a performance of one published song and can wait for that file. Use this kit when the tune is already in your hands and each section needs a line you have checked. The draft can be rejected. A recording in the wrong key cannot be rebuilt into this tenor section's range.

Church, school and community choirs

Church choir directors are the clearest fit. A hymn or a short anthem is known as a melody. The inner parts are not written yet, or they sit in a key this choir cannot sing. You generate a draft, listen, and send part-dominant learning tracks before the service. Music teachers use the same loop with a school choir or a community choir: four parts, a deadline, and singers who will not all be in the room before the next meeting. The kit does not know the difference between a sanctuary and a rehearsal room. It only distributes the part you accepted.

The kit does not choose the service, the concert, or whether you may arrange the song. A public-domain hymn and a copyrighted chorus are different jobs, and only you know which file arrived. It also does not replace the rehearsal in the room. Blend, dynamics, breathing, phrasing, text stress and balance between sections happen when the group sings together. Arrive with the lines already heard. Use the room for musicianship, not for dictating the alto from the piano.

If the piece is not written yet, start on the SATB arrangement app: a melody in, a four-part draft out, then listen and review. This page is the next step, after you trust that draft. The Portuguese page is the same workflow for choirs that work in Brazilian Portuguese. The short citation is the answer on choir rehearsal tracks. Those pages do not rank products and they do not print a user review.

Free, Pro, and what the kit will not do

Free includes a short no-signup demo of up to 16 notes and a free account with monthly limits: 10 harmonizations and 2 MIDI exports. The WhatsApp rehearsal kit is available after you save. Classical is the free style. PDF and MusicXML downloads are not included. Per-voice playback is included, so you can hear the draft before you decide a plan is worth it. Paid Pro starts at R$24.90 per month in BRL, with yearly billing up to R$249.90. Pro unlocks unlimited generations and rehearsal kits, plus PDF, MIDI and MusicXML export, the rehearsal kit per voice, and all styles. Reach the monthly limit and activate 3 days of Pro free, once per account. Sign in to subscribe. Exact current limits live on the English pricing page.

A saved arrangement is required before export and before the share link. If you generated before you signed in, save on the account and share after that. A one-time credit pack does not unlock PDF or MusicXML downloads. What you get is a first SATB pass and a way to put each voice on a phone. What you do not get is a certified arrangement, a copyright clearance, or a substitute for the rehearsal in the room. If the free monthly cap covers the choir, stay there. If you need PDF, MusicXML and unlimited drafts, Pro is the upgrade listed on the pricing page. Paste the link only after you would let your own section learn that line.

Choir rehearsal tracks — FAQ

What is a choir rehearsal kit per voice part?

It is a set of audio files, usually MIDI, in which each choir section hears its own voice in front and the other voices in the background. Singers can study that part at home before the group rehearsal, without the director in the room.

Which formats does the rehearsal kit export?

CantuStudio exports per-voice MIDI, a PDF of the full choral score, and MusicXML so you can keep editing in other notation software. The MIDI files play in any player, can be imported into a music-study app, or converted to audio.

Can I make rehearsal tracks for any song?

The flow works for any melody you import or choose from the hymn catalog. The result depends on how cleanly the melody was extracted and on the harmonic complexity of the piece. Music with functional harmony, such as hymns and songs, usually works better.

Do choir rehearsal tracks replace the live rehearsal?

No. They reduce the time spent teaching note by note in the room. They do not replace blend, dynamics, breathing, phrasing and musicality, which only happen when the whole group sings together.

How much does it cost to make choir rehearsal tracks?

A no-signup demo and a free account with limits: 10 harmonizations per month with up to 32 notes each, WhatsApp rehearsal kit after save and 2 MIDI exports per month. PDF and MusicXML downloads are not included. Pro unlocks whole songs (up to 256 notes) and unlimited harmonizations, plus PDF, MIDI and MusicXML export. Pro monthly is R$24.90/month; Pro yearly is R$249.90/year. See current prices and limits on /en/pricing.
